They are all right, and that is the point. The last week of August is not a slow fade in Chelsea. It is a hinge, when three separate scenes briefly share the same five days of downtown before the calendar resets and a new venue on South Main starts pulling weeknight foot traffic in a direction the town has not had before.

Two things about JD's are worth holding onto as a resident. First, the second entrance faces the Purple Rose lobby, which quietly rewires the pre-show and post-show flow that used to run to Cleary's Pub or the Common Grill. Second, Amanda Daniels described Chelsea as a town heavy on artists but without a designated music space, and the venue is being designed around that gap, courting local and national singer-songwriters into a room built for the acoustics rather than a bar retrofitted into hosting a band. Brenda Fineman built it to be browsable at any hour of any day of the year, with a window into the artist-in-residence workspace inside Geek Brush. It is a five-minute detour off a Depot walk and a legitimate answer to the "what did you do while I was at the tractor pull" question.
